GP consultations are bulk billed for everyone with a valid Medicare card. Some items — privately purchased vaccines, some procedures — attract a fee, and reception quotes you before you book.
Bloods and tests can be done straight after your appointment without driving anywhere — the collection centre is a few steps from our door.
Closed weekends and NSW public holidays. If it is urgent when we are shut, ring Muswellbrook Hospital on (02) 6542 2000, or 000 in an emergency.

The familiar faces who help keep your care connected — booking your appointment, chasing your results, and knowing your name when you walk in.
Reception is open Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Ring (02) 6530 7404 and someone here will pick up.
We look after individuals, families, working people and older residents across Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter — the same faces, year after year, through every stage of life.
Muswellbrook Doctors is a bulk billing general practice inside Muswellbrook Fair on Rutherford Road. Eight AHPRA-registered doctors, our nursing team and pathology in the same building keep your family’s care joined up under one roof.
From newborn checks to women’s and men’s health, mental health care plans, skin checks and chronic disease management — we look after families across Muswellbrook, Denman, Aberdeen, Scone, Singleton and the wider Upper Hunter.
GP consultations are bulk billed for all patients with a valid Medicare card. Some procedures, dressings, privately purchased vaccines, travel medicine and medical reports may attract a small private fee — reception will quote you at the time of booking.
ADHD assessment
Dr Zahraa Hussein runs structured ADHD assessments here at the clinic, so families in the Upper Hunter do not have to travel to Newcastle or the Central Coast for one. It is a longer, dedicated appointment — not a standard GP consult — booked and billed separately.
Dr Zahraa HusseinGeneral Practitioner
Privately billed. ADHD assessment is not bulk billed, because it runs across several long appointments rather than one. You are quoted before you begin and pay on the day, and a Medicare rebate may apply to part of it. Ask reception about fees →
An assessment does not always end in an ADHD diagnosis. Where something else better explains what you are experiencing, Dr Zahraa will tell you and help you work out what comes next.
Get it looked at. A skin check with one of our GPs is bulk billed for anyone with a valid Medicare card — and if the spot needs testing, the biopsy is bulk billed too for pension and concession card holders.
Change is the single most useful thing to notice, and you do not need to know what it means — that is our job. If you are unsure whether something has changed, photograph it beside something for scale and look again in a month.
A sore that scabs and reopens, or that has not healed in about four weeks, is worth showing us sooner rather than waiting for a routine check.
Having had one skin cancer makes another more likely, and melanoma in a parent, sibling or child raises your risk too. Tell us about both — it changes how often we suggest you come in.
It is cumulative sun exposure that matters most, so trades, farming, mining and years of outdoor sport all count — including the sun you got decades ago. Fair skin that burns before it tans adds to it.
That is reason enough to book. Nobody minds you bringing in something that turns out to be harmless — that is exactly what the appointment is for.
A skin check is not a screening program, and no examination finds everything. Australian guidelines recommend checks based on your own risk rather than a set schedule for everyone, so your GP will talk with you about what makes sense in your case. Bring your Medicare card, and your pension or concession card if you have one.
