Book an appointment

GP appointments.Ten minutes, used well.

A standard consultation runs about ten minutes. That is enough for one or two things done properly — and knowing that before you arrive changes how much you get out of it.

What to know

No referral neededThis is general practice care — you can book directly with us.

One or two things,done properly.

A standard consultation suits a single new problem, a follow-up, a script review, or results that need explaining. Bring more than that and something gets rushed — usually the thing you were most worried about, because people tend to raise it last.

Lead with the main thingThe most common thing that goes wrong in a ten-minute appointment is the door-handle question — the real reason for the visit mentioned as you stand up. Say it in the first minute instead.
How do I know if I need longer?

If you have more than a couple of things, if it is a mental health conversation, a skin check, a care plan, or any paperwork — book a long appointment and say what it is for.

Can I bring a list?

Please do. Hand it over at the start and we can decide together what fits today and what needs another visit.

Can I see the same doctor?

Where possible, and it is worth asking for. Continuity means not retelling your history every visit.

GP consultsquestions, answered.

How long is a standard appointment?

About ten minutes. Longer appointments are available and are the right choice for anything complex.

Is it bulk billed?

Yes, for everyone with a valid Medicare card. Some services such as work medicals and ADHD assessment are privately billed.

Do I need to be a regular patient?

No. New patients are welcome. Registering with MyMedicare links you to us for continuity, and there is no charge for it.

Can I book online?

Yes, through HotDoc, any hour of the day.

Can I get a phone appointment?

For some things, yes. See telehealth for what suits and what does not.

What if I need more time than booked?

Tell reception when you book. It is far better than being asked to return for a second visit.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, always. Two people remember more of an appointment than one.

What if I cannot get in today?

Ring and say what is happening. Same-day slots are held each morning, and reception can advise on urgency.
