All Medicare-eligible consultations are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card. Some items, including privately purchased vaccines and consumables, attract a fee.

Private medical assessments, not just a signature.

Insurance, licensing, camps and sport all ask a doctor to certify something specific. These are assessments, not paperwork — and because they are not Medicare services, they are privately billed.

Bulk billedStandard consultations, for everyone with a valid Medicare card
Medicare Bulk Billing PracticeWe are a bulk billing practice — standard GP consultations are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Third-party assessments are not Medicare services, so they are privately billed and quoted before you book.

Certifying somethingfor someone else.

These assessments exist because a third party — an insurer, a licensing authority, a school, a club — needs an independent medical opinion. That makes them different from a consultation about your health, and Medicare does not fund them.

Bring the actual formEvery form is different, and a doctor cannot second-guess what a particular insurer wants. Bring it with you, complete your own sections beforehand, and bring photo ID.
Why is it not bulk billed?

Medicare funds care for your health, not assessments requested by a third party. The fee is quoted before you book, and you will never be surprised by it.

How long does it take?

Longer than a standard appointment — often 30 minutes or more, sometimes with tests.

Can I get it done same day?

Rarely. These need to be booked ahead so enough time is set aside.

An assessment, not a signature. These appointments run longer because the report has to stand up to scrutiny.

Booked long,quoted upfront.

Ring reception, say what the assessment is for, and you will be given the fee before you commit.

Will you tell me the cost first?

Always. You will know the fee before the appointment is booked.

Can my employer be billed?

Some employers arrange billing directly. Ask them, and tell reception when you book.

What if I do not pass?

The doctor's job is an honest assessment. Where something is fixable, that becomes the plan.

Private assessmentsquestions, answered.

Is this bulk billed?

No. Third-party assessments are not Medicare services and are privately billed.

Will I know the cost beforehand?

Yes, always, before the appointment is booked.

How long is the appointment?

Usually 30 minutes or more.

What should I bring?

The form, photo ID, your medicines, glasses if you wear them, and any recent results.

Can I do it by telehealth?

No. These require examination.

Do you do commercial driver medicals?

Ring and confirm the type of licence — requirements differ by category.

Can you complete a form I bring later?

Bring it to the appointment. Completing a form without an assessment is not something a doctor can do.

Do you do pre-employment medicals?

Yes — see the pre-employment medicals page.
