What this website is, what it is not, and the terms you accept by using it. The short version: it is general information, not advice about you.

What is in these terms.

01

About these terms

These terms apply to your use of muswellbrookdoctors.com.au and every page on it. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

They sit alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your personal information, and our practice policies, which set out how the practice itself operates.

The site is published by Muswellbrook Doctors, Tenancy 16–17, Muswellbrook Fair, 19–29 Rutherford Road, Muswellbrook NSW 2333.

02

General information only

Everything on this website is general health information. It is not advice about your own situation. It does not take account of your history, your medicines, your allergies or anything else a doctor would need to know.

Using this website does not create a doctor–patient relationship. That relationship begins when you attend an appointment and a doctor takes responsibility for your care.

If you are worried about a symptom, book an appointment or ring us on (02) 6530 7404. Do not delay seeing a doctor because of something you read here, and do not start, stop or change a prescribed medicine on the basis of this website.

03

In an emergency

This website is not monitored, and it is not a way to get urgent help. Nothing you submit through it reaches a doctor immediately.

If you or someone else is seriously unwell — chest pain, severe breathlessness, signs of stroke, heavy bleeding, a seizure, a serious injury, or thoughts of self-harm — call 000 or go to Muswellbrook Hospital, 36 Brentwood Street, (02) 6542 2000.

For health advice at any hour, healthdirect is available on 1800 022 222. For mental health support, Lifeline is on 13 11 14 and the NSW Mental Health Line is on 1800 011 511.

04

Booking an appointment online

Online bookings are handled by HotDoc, an independent third-party service. When you book through it you are also subject to HotDoc’s own terms and privacy policy, and the details you enter are held by HotDoc as well as by us. We encourage you to read their policy before booking, and you can always book by phoning us on (02) 6530 7404 instead.

Submitting a booking request does not create an appointment until it is confirmed. A booking is a request for an appointment at a particular time, not a guarantee. Appointment times shift when an earlier patient needs longer than expected, and genuinely urgent cases are prioritised. We will keep you informed if we are running behind.

Please let us know as early as you can if you cannot attend, so the time can be offered to someone else.

Appointment availability, opening hours and the services we offer can change. We publish current information on this site, but the position at the time you contact reception is the one that applies.

05

Accuracy and currency

We take care to keep this site accurate and current. Health guidance changes, however, and information here may become out of date between reviews. The review date shown on each page tells you when it was last checked.

Fees, opening hours, doctor availability and the services we offer can change without notice. If any of these matter to a decision you are making, ring reception and confirm it rather than relying on the page.

Where we describe a condition, a test or a procedure, we describe it in general terms. Your own experience may differ, and your doctor is the person to tell you how.

07

Contacting us

Please do not send personal health information by email. Ordinary email is not a secure channel, and our inbox is not monitored continuously, so an email about a symptom may not be read for some time.

Ring us on (02) 6530 7404 instead, or book an appointment. In an emergency, call 000.

The same applies to social media. Our accounts are not a clinical channel, we do not discuss individual patients there, and we cannot control who else can see what you post.

08

Your use of this site

You agree to use this website lawfully, and not to:

  • Interfere with the site, its security or its availability, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it
  • Introduce malicious code of any kind
  • Use automated means to scrape, harvest or republish content without our permission
  • Impersonate another person, or submit information you know to be false
  • Post or transmit anything defamatory, offensive or unlawful through any form or account associated with the practice

We may restrict access to the site, or to any part of it, where we reasonably believe it is being misused.

10

Feedback and comments

Feedback can be given to any member of our team, left at reception, or put in writing to the Practice Manager. We will acknowledge it, look into it and tell you the outcome. Raising a concern will never affect the care you receive.

You will not find patient reviews or testimonials about clinical care anywhere on this website. That is deliberate, and it is not because we have none. Section 133 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law prohibits the use of testimonials in advertising a regulated health service, so we neither publish them nor ask patients for them.

If you would rather raise something with someone outside the practice, the Health Care Complaints Commission can be contacted on 1800 043 159 or at hccc.nsw.gov.au. For privacy matters specifically, see our privacy policy.

11

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Muswellbrook Doctors is not liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect or consequential — arising from your use of, or reliance on, information on this website, or from the site being unavailable, interrupted or containing an error.

This does not limit our responsibility for the clinical care we actually provide to you, which is governed by the ordinary duties a medical practice owes its patients.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under any other law, that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where our liability can be limited but not excluded, it is limited to resupplying the relevant service, or to paying the cost of having it resupplied.

12

Privacy

How we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information is set out in full in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

In short: you can read this site without telling us who you are; we do not sell your information; and anything you tell a doctor stays between you, that doctor and the team caring for you, other than in the limited circumstances the privacy policy describes.

13

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, that part is severed and the rest continues to apply.

14

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the review date at the top shows when it was last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated terms apply to you.

If you have a question about these terms, ring the practice on (02) 6530 7404 and ask to speak with the practice manager.
